Stoke is good...
But misunderstood in some cases...
It doesn't have to be surf-centric...
But it's better when it is...
I don't always share the stoke of beginning surfers...
Who gush about surfing waves I'm not as stoked about...
And I'm not always stoked by soft toppers hooting...
About white water rides and purlings...
I don't mind a well placed hoot mind you...
But when I'm sitting outside...
With zen focus and intensity...
The prattle and inanity of their stoke grates...
But, that's my problem...
And I'll share tips with rank beginners...
Pointing out simple things...
That will add to their stoke, I suspect...
Like: Take 2 more strokes to get the wave...
Or: Keep the nose of your board an inch out of the water (not a foot)...
And: Don't sit inside watching in fear as people hurtle towards you...
But mostly: Don't just sit there...paddle around...
