I had one rail left when the pail started getting hot. The last foot or so ended up lumping up but everything seemed to be wrapped ok, but I'm afraid to go back into the garage.

Just reminded me that you can keep your resin cool in a water bath or ice box, which will give you more working time. Of course, you don't want so much working time that too much resin soaks into the foam. In the summer if you are in a warm garage or a sunny spot, the resin will warm enough as soon as it's applied.

In winter you can play the opposite game and warm the resin in a bucket of warm water. May help speed up those 24 hour, never-quite-cure ding repair jobs.

Thanks Erzats, none of the resources mentioned that. Glassed the top today and must say it went much better. The rails look good and few bubbles.

Thanks, it took me a second to catch that one. In hindsight, I think less curves would've been better for a first board. That tail needed lots of rework for bubbles.

That looks nice. It's good to see someone unafraid to put some bottom contours in. What are the rails like on that thing? Stats? 36-28-36 with a D cup? Majoring in Communications?

If you ever take a break from your nice weather and come back out to the beach. I don't think I can use it for #2's template.

She's kinda chunky but hopefully playful and intuitive. Still need to measure but its ~ 6'3" x 22.75 x 2.75. didn't even measure the nose or tail. The rails are hard with a cutaway(you can see it on the tail edges) the full length.

Virgin Foam

Looks good. You can also say you've done something fewer and fewer shapers can claim: Shaped a Clark Foam blank. It will give you a perspective to work from when you shape other foams in the future for better or worse.

y'know, I shaped a clark foam blank once. If I had it to do over again, I'd do a better job.

Well put. The only thing with shaping that blank is the amount of cutting, planing, sanding, planing, sanding, cutting, planing, sanding......
